We are delighted to announce we will be facilitating a fully-funded* introduction to Process Painting at schools throughout Wicklow as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg 2025.

The aim of PAINT + MAKE is to introduce children to Process Art through paint and mixed-media workshops. Process Painting is all about the moment. We offer children the space to play and experiment and explore pattern and colour. The focus is on the process, meaning we don’t want to be conscious of the end goal. We will then respond to our paintings; what do we see in them and what could they become? We can use markers, pastels or scissors and paste to alter the paintings, turning them into something new. Children can make individual works and a group mural collage that will form their exhibition piece for Cruinniú na nÓg on June 7th.

Following on from the success of PAINT + MAKE 2024, where we facilitated the project at 14 different national schools in County Kerry as part of the Creative Communities project, we are delighted to extend the offering to schools in County Wicklow, with the support of Wicklow County Arts office and Creative Ireland.

*Project funded by Wicklow County Arts Office and Creative Ireland for Cruinniú na nÓg 2025.

Me and The Moon visited 14 national schools across Kerry in 2024 as part of the project, and culminated in a showcase of the children’s work at Kerry County Museum.

We’re now accepting applications from Primary Schools in County Wicklow, who would like to participate in this fully-funded creative project.

Me and The Moon will visit a number of selected primary schools in Wicklow for two creative workshops in process painting and collage. The children’s work will then be showcased at an art exhibition at our studio at Killruddery House and Gardens, as part of Cruinniú na nÓg on June 7th 2025.

Schools will need to be available for two 1-hour workshops on Thursdays in April and May. Limited availability.

“I would highly recommend these workshops to other teachers. It was so convenient that the facilitator travelled to our school and we did not have to arrange transport. I was very happy that this project was funded and the school did not incur any cost. I learned lots of new techniques and approaches myself that I will implement into my art lessons going forward. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.”

“I was grateful to David coming in and working with the children. There were enough resources for each child to use and they were free to create what they wanted. Really enjoyed it and would definitely do another workshop again.”

“We really appreciate David giving us this beautiful opportunity.  It was a fabulous workshop, which allowed the children to be active and creative throughout the process. Fantastic.”
